Just a reminder for people to get their dates down
For the London or Birmingham curry bash or both
5 on each table would be nice        Remember free Beer for the first 5 on each table :P

London / Kent, Thursdays only (I can do other days; this assumes that Stew cannot) --

October:   17/31
November: 7/14/21
December: 5/12

** Phil.

My suggestion would be 05 Dec for a pre-Xmas get together.

My suggestion would be 05 Dec for a pre-Xmas get together.

It's a nice idea, but by three weeks before Christmas the restaurants are already getting Christmas party bookings, during which period the quality is likely to suffer because of pressure on the staff dealing with a higher number of covers than usual; my suggestion would be to bring it forward to at least five or six weeks before Christmas.  What do others think ?

I didn't think of that but you might be right. What about 14 Nov, then?

Is anyone else aiming to meet somewhere in the vicinity of Brick Lane, London on 14 Nov?

Please re-confirm.

Is Brick Lane definite, George ?  Given the very large number of establishments there, some of which will undoubtedly be cashing in on the reputation of the better ones and taking advantage of the massive tourist trade, I had rather hoped that we would meet at a restaurant that one of our number was willing to personally vouch for ... One possibility that I had in mind was the Agra, in Whitfield Street (less than 5 minutes walk from Warren Street tube station) which is the very first restaurant in which I ate tandoori chicken (somewhere in the period 1966 -- 1970) and which is still receiving very positive reviews in Trip Advisor.  It is now owned and run by the son of the proprietor whom I knew, but it would appear to still be run on the same lines, with the focus primarily on good traditional BIR fare.

Come on chaps, November 14th is now only just over two weeks away, and at the moment there are just two of us definitely attending.  Michael, this was your idea :  are you in ?  And what about Stew, who said he would be interested in a London meet-up ?  And there must be other London / Home Counties members who would like to share a meal together.   Current plan is to start either in London Chinatown or Brick Lane, for a viewing/shopping expedition, followed by dinner at the Agra, Whitfield Street (the place that turned me on to Tandoori Chicken almost 50 years ago; still in the same family ownership, albeit now 2nd generation, and still getting rave reviews on Trip Advisor).
