I would most definitely like to sink my teeth into one of those pies.  And as for the "cumberland game ring", that looks divine with those mushrooms  :P  Mouthwatering stuff.  Now what on earth shall i have for tea tonight  ???

I got a suprise set of Sabatier knives off Santa ;D ;D

Flying Pies there Gav, workmates are lucky guys indeed, I've never had a good plate pie for ages.
Your sausage and mash also looks spot on,. ;)

Just try a kebab recipe for the sausage, I made some spicy sausage kebabs with leftover xmas sausage meat.
Fried them off like Shammi Kebabs, Salad and Tamarind Mayo, Yum Yum

My usual Kebab recipe -
2tbs Service Onion chopped (small)
1tbs Chopped Coriander (fine)
1tbs G&G paste (thick)
1tsp Mixed powder
1tsp Salt
1Htsp Pataks Kashmiri Masala
1tbs Pataks Madras Kebab Paste

1tsp Methi leaves (optional)
Good pinch or two of Kashmiri Chilli powder (optional)

Just pound this up really fine with your mince, and make some sausages.
Should work fine! ;)

cheers Chewy

Cheers Chewy, I shall be giving this a go.
Hopefully if the pies look nice inside I'll post a photo.

Two daughters, two crackin' pressies. Daughter no 1 got me the Bron Coucke Mandoline that I have hankered for, for ages. Daughter no 2 bought me the Premier Super G Blender. This is the piece of kit that starred in Rick Steins India earlier in the year. Wifey back to work on Monday whilst us builder type chappies sit at home and play with new toys.

And Santa's (curry-related) present to me was a Morphy-Richards 48822 soup maker, destined to become my base maker but currently being used by wife to make vegetable soup ...

@Phil,

Nice present, I believe Chewy likes his and does base in it and also my friend, who just does soup , raves about his.

@ tempest63. Just watch those fingers on you mandoline. Great tools if you have lots of prep.

And harking back to my pie, here it is cut open.

It was delicious with some caramelised onion relish I knocked up last night

Just made my first batch of base using the M-R 48822, and at the moment I am ambivalent.  It is a fixed 21-minute cook-and-blend cycle, which I augmented with two 2-minute smoothie cycles and a second 21-minute cook-and-blend before adding the oil, turmeric, paprika and 1/2 tin peeled plum tomatoes (i.e., this is a KD-1 base, scaled down).  The resulting sauce /looks/ OK, but the proof will be in the cooking; no curry tonight (forgot to defrost the chicken) and none tomorrow (too busy) but maybe Tuesday, in which case I will report back then.
