For HD, if your browser is detected as HTML 5-compatible, the video will be H.264 encoded. 

Phil - you are a mine of information! I'm using Google Chrome version 43.0.2357.81m within windows XP The files saved by the 4K programme are definitely saved on my SSD as MP4 files so, if the youtube native format is also MP4, as you say it is, then I'm so grateful to Les for flagging up the 4K product. Why download anything though? From my point of view, videos may be deleted for some reason, or perhaps youtube could become a subscription service. Grab anything interesting, while you can, is my thinking.

Exactly George,
Some (cooking) videos that i watched where deleted,  So now i don't give them a chance to delete now,
If i want them, then i get them  ;D
