Title: Tandoori Chicken (she just doesn't know it yet)
Post by: livo on November 02, 2018, 08:02 AM
Here she is waiting patiently for her turn on the ride.

Of course I'm only pulling your leg. The hen is 10 years old, but doesn't look a day over 9. Her name is Dear Prudence. Unfortunately all of her friends have pre-deceased her. No, not in the tandoor.
The Peacock is a blow in yesterday but he seems to have made himself quite at home. I'm not sure if it is good or bad. He is a beautiful bird, nearly 2 metres long but they are noisy and messy

I've got a couple of corony Coronas in the ridgy didge. Not so sure about the Peacock though.

Well, Google has totally failed to enlighten me concerning your cryptic utterance

Good Lord.  I thought "coronary Coronas" were possibly  some obscure Australian game-bird, but the ridgey-didge was totally beyond my comprehension ...

A mate of mine used to call Corona cerveza "Corony Coronas". Not coronary. I don't normally drink it but I just happen to have some here. The picture of the bird dressed in Les' link shows a bottle of Corona.
Ridgy didge can be (out here) used to mean on the level, fair dinkum, actually true and correct, or as rhyming slang for the fridge. Weird bunch us Ozzies. ;)

Jeez Phil even Garp got that one  ;)

I blame it on Livo's taste in beer; now if he'd written "a few Proper Jobs" or "a few Doom Bars", I might have known what he was talking about ... :)

Proper jobs and Doom bars? Hmm. My guess would not involve beer. Last night's curry. ::)

Ah, you should ask Mary Bryant (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mary_Bryant) (or one of her descendants)

We have far more creative names for beer out here. XXXX and VB. There used to one called KB and another called DA but they haven't been around for years. There are some yuppy beers around that use words. Phhhh. How ridiculous? Used to be you go into a bar and order either a New or an Old and that was it. Really daring people (wierdos) would order a 50. VB and DA actually were abreviations. Who needs whole words when ordering beer?
Title: Vale Dear Prudence.

The recent photograph now has significance other than its humorous first quality. Unfortunately Dear Prudence expired yesterday :( . She was quite aged and showed no sign of ill health or suffering. I will now begin a new cycle of birds to supply fresh eggs at home.

Oh, poor Prudence.  Requiescat in pace, dear bird. May you be resurrected as an eagle.
