It was just a thought.  We have a pizza stone that we use on our gas bbq while away with the caravan.  I just thought it could also cook other stuff that needed a high heat.  I must admit the stone when using it for pizza is a bit of a hit and miss with either uncooked or cremated bottoms. lol  Ours is very similar to yours Unclefrank.so glad to here it isn't just me that cremates pizzas.  ;D

What about using a cooler box?  They also keep things hot if you put hot stuff in there.  How do Sikh temples keep rice warm?  They cook for hundreds in some of them.  Any temples near you that you could ask for advice?

Brill.  Keep us posted.

Has anyone tried to cook naans or other breads on a pizza stone in the oven?  I'm thinking it would approximate a tandoor of sorts if the oven was whacked up to a high heat and then slap the bread on the stone.  Anyone tried it?

Sadly we don't have any asian shops round our way, but have tried a few frozen makes from Red Rickshaw, but not impressed compared to freshly rolled homemade.ones.  Not sure I have had that brand so will look out for them.  Pilsbury ones are awful.

Sounds interesting.  Size would be important.  I too use kilner type jars about 4" diameter so a tiny label wouldn't look good.  My current ones are just homemade jam type and hand written.  So a more professional look would be cool.

I should add it's great to see some of the old hands in here.  Very encouraging.

Hi All,

I had forgotten about this place,  :'(  :shame:,  but since the hiatus in the Other place that shall not be named, I'm back.  I have never been a prolific poster in either place but agree with others that a forum is the members rather than a cult type thing and what we have posted needs to be available, but life moves on.    Anyway I am glad I have re-found you all and look forward to the great recipes you guys come up with.  Slowly I am educating my OH that taste is not always sacrificed by spice.  Having moved her on to slightly more than Korma's and butter Chicken. lol.

Keep up the great work, and I promise not to leave it so long between posts. :(.
