Chicken tikka botti paste tester
« on: May 05, 2014, 08:40 AM »
Getting quite excited about this paste.  Marinade consists of G/G paste, the botti paste, yoghurt, lemon juice squirt, mustard/sunflower oil, and a bit of grated nutmeg.  That's it. No salt, additional food colouring, or anything else.  Tasted spot on, for me.

Tester sample after 6 hr marinade, grilled.

Already thinking better than Blades, better than everything to be honest.  Should add I'm not a fan of typical Bangladeshi BIR tikka.  Find it incredibly bland as a starter.  Pakistani tikka and tandoori cooking in general, however, I love.  This is so close.  Couple of tweaks including a tad more colour and it should be job done, to my satisfaction anyway.

Rob  :)

I believe the botti bit actually relates to off the bone dark meat.

That looks a treat, Rob, and you have confirmed the taste is good. Might have to splash out on a jar :)

Good prices? Are you kidding... They're horrifically expensive compared to an Asian supermarket.

So far so good Garp.  Stands up by itself for sure, but I'll need to put it though its paces; planning a chicken tikka botti shashlik, to see how the flavours balance out with plenty fresh garlic/chilli; sizzler.  Fingers crossed.

Rob  :)

I tried this yesterday after a 24 hour marinade. Very, very nice indeed.

A fair bit hotter than Blades tikka. I would cook this to slap on a naan with salad and mint sauce, and for my own curry dishes, but use blades for a CTM, as it would make a CTM too hot for most people IMHO.

Thanks for sharing Bob.
