Hi

I was in Manchester curry mile the other day and tried to get some Pasco Tandoori paste as recommended by Dip, alas no joy but I came across Laziza Tandoori and Laziza Tikka Boti pastes

Tandoori pork chop starter:

Absolutely top notch.  No doubt about it (imo).  Superb quality and immense depth of flavour.

Pataks is dead, long live Laziza!

Looks superb Rob.

On your recommendation, I managed to get my local Asian grocer to get hold of some Laziza tikka botti paste (still waiting for him to get the tandoori one). Had 500g of chicken drumsticks marinaded in the tikka botti paste and yoghurt for 2 days.  Very good indeed... Better than any tikka I've had.

Have to agree with you there Bob  :)
My only trouble is I keep running out of paste
And at the moment I can only buy them online
I wonder if they do catering size jars  :-\

Another tasty picture Bob      Your house must be a bit warmer this time of year  ;) ;D

Lovely looking pork chop, Bob. Not keen on them normally but that looks amazing :)

BTW - Pataks was always dead :)

That really looks the business Rob - as does all your photos you post.
As much as I dislike pastes, and after reading all the positive comments here, I would be pretty blinkered not to give it a go.

Regards

Mick

Thinking the tandoori paste (first recommended by Salvador btw) might just edge the botti.  Not much in it though.  Both are great.  Agree with Mick in that probably won't suit everyone as on the spicy side for CTM, korma etc.  But as a starter. Oh my goodness!  Fantastic, and I like spicy.  The green cardo/mace addition is also worth a go, particularly for lamb (and pork).  I got this tip some time ago from a restaurant BIR chef, who uses it in lamb tikka and sheek kebab, giving spectacular results.  However, as often is the case, it's been done before/elsewhere. Recently found a recipe for the combo in one of the Cinnamon Club books.  Interesting as I had thought a 50:50 mix.  Hmm. Half a nutmeg as well; nice.  The recipe/method can be viewed here if anyone is interested:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Cinnamon-Kitchen-Cookbook-Vivek-Singh/dp/1906650802/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1403257896&sr=8-2&keywords=cinnamon+club

Click on the "Look Inside" option.  It's in the Basics section of the book. Mace and cardamom powder.

Rob  :)

Laziza pastes are apparently available in 1 kg pots Michael.  Not seen any as yet though.

How good does that Pork Chop look? mmmmm :P Unfortunately, for me, another supply disappointment.  You guys over there are so spoilt for ingredients.  I can get pork chops without a problem.  Laziza Tikka Botti Paste, not so easy. Interesting that it's handled by Alamgeer.
