Tava Naan Tonight
« on: November 06, 2014, 01:16 AM »
Knocked up some dough at teatime. Inspired by SP posts.

I didn’t have any baking powder, which I usually use, so I wasn’t expecting much rise.
But that was OK as I make more Roti than Naan as a rule.

Anyhoo the resulting photo is SR flour, All Milk, heavy on the egg, caster sugar, salt and kalonji.
coated with a bit oil/minced garlic and coriander, finished later with a little Lurpak.

Surprised at the result of this happy tasty bread. ;D
cheers Chewy

Burn those spices "Singefry" and Bhunao are the keys to success.
Smoking Mustard Oil is good for You and your curries.....Lol

All that bread needs is nice plate of curry, Chewy! Looks the business! :)

Spoke too soon! I've just read the Jal Jhul Murgh post!

Would like to rip that Naan to bits! Looks well tasty 8) do you have any issue getting your Naan to stick chewy? Mine always slide of on the flip from the non stick.
Thanks.

What a beauty! We don't buy SR flour as plain is much cheaper here and you can just add some baking powder.  Which your naan proves in reverse :)

Hi LC
I get the odd one which drops off or hangs down a bit, if I haven’t wet it properly or I don’t
let the Tava get hot enough, as often the case, your multi tasking in the kitchen and get distracted.

I’ve learnt to focus all my attention on the Tava method, as I had a couple of dangerous mishaps
dropping the mad hot Tava,
Hands covered in oil, flour and water proved a well dodgy combo for this method.

Non stick Tavas or Pans work fine for this if you get them Mad Hot
cheers Chewy

chewytikka,

your spoiling me as usual. that pic is just what i needed.

i cant resist straying off the path a little (only way to learn) and this weeks go on the naan was a complete disaster.

the pic and few words have re motivated and ready to get the milk out and dump the fermenting.

best wishes,
