« on: May 21, 2015, 10:27 AM »
Hi Guy's
I  don't know if any of you download videos from YouTube Or anywhere else with subs, If you do, can you tell me what software prog you are using, or know of one I could use, tried YTD, and 4K video, but none of them download the sub's or captions, any help appreciated,  and yes, I know that you can download an srt downloader, but that don't work well either ;)
Thanks

If you can post a link to a video with subtitles or closed captions that I can use as the basis for experiments, Les, I am more than willing to investigate the options.

Quite correct  littlechilie,

OK, I used the standard Seamonkey "Youtube MP4 downloader" add-on, grabbed the corresponding .SRT file using Keepsubs.com, then muxed the two using VLC.  But her Chinese is so good you shouldn't need subtitles !

It is Phil, she speaks it like a native ;D but not a lot of good to me If I don't understand Chinese.
Already tried  Keepsubs.com, it was crap, I got more chance of understanding Qing, than trying to read that tripe.

Don't understand, Les; what Keepsubs.com returned to me appeared (at first sight, admittedly) to be what the original captions had read.  I will test again and report back ...

Yes, the original captions.  What do you see ?

1
00:00:06,004 --> 00:00:06,012
Good afternoon.

2
00:00:07,004 --> 00:00:11,020
Today I am showing you how to make king prawns with green peppers and black bean sauce

3
00:00:11,868 --> 00:00:16,872
we need some onion, just a bit not a whole one

4
00:00:16,908 --> 00:00:18,806
green pepper

5
00:00:18,917 --> 00:00:20,917
garlic

6
00:00:21,004 --> 00:00:28,007
these are the ingredients, I we do not need the whole lot, just some .

7
00:00:36,159 --> 00:00:38,159
cut into pieces

8
00:01:04,034 --> 00:01:07,060
first blanch the king prawns

9
00:01:10,056 --> 00:01:12,092
just blanch for 30 seconds

10
00:01:16,038 --> 00:01:18,038
drain the off

11
00:01:25,918 --> 00:01:27,918
garlic

12
00:01:30,001 --> 00:01:34,002
and the rest of the vegetables

13
00:01:36,346 --> 00:01:38,346
some black beans

14
00:01:43,465 --> 00:01:45,465
now add the king prawns

15
00:01:50,573 --> 00:01:52,573
some dark soy sauce

16
00:02:02,012 --> 00:02:04,012
fry for a bit

17
00:02:05,953 --> 00:02:07,953
add bit of water

18
00:02:13,047 --> 00:02:15,047
bit of MSG

19
00:02:16,807 --> 00:02:18,807
bit of sugar

20
00:02:23,423 --> 00:02:25,423
thicken with some potato starch

21
00:02:27,018 --> 00:02:29,084
not too thick

22
00:02:42,086 --> 00:02:44,086
look beautiful, smells great too.

23
00:02:44,086 --> 00:02:46,164
makes me hungry:)

24
00:02:47,064 --> 00:02:47,860
Thanks for watching
