Forum members get-together 2018 London
« on: March 27, 2018, 03:27 PM »
On the 'new management' thread I asked if our new administrator, Tom, might be interested in meeting a few members. As he lives in France, it might be difficult, he said, Then we have three other members who seem interested in the idea, plus myself, of course. So that's:

Gav Iscon
littlechilie
Madrasandy
George

Anyone else? Even if only four of us turn up, that's one more than the last time.,

When? I suggest a Saturday in July but I could do almost any day,

For anyone who can't think of anything worse, please tell us why.

Please accept my apologies in advance -- I am afraid that the round trip Cornwall / London / Cornwall makes this a non-viable proposition for me, much as I would like to participate.

How about finding out who wants to attend then pick a place closest to all participants?

Yep, good idea but I'm up for anywhere really.

I suggest we start with a headcount of people who would like to meet others in principle, regardless of where they live. So that could include members in such far flung places as Australia, France and Cornwall,. If there's a quorum of say 3 people for any area, there could be multiple meetings, I fear, however, that we might not have the active membership numbers to make it possible - especially the number of people who are prepared to leave their houses, keyboards and kitchens for very long. Sad, Compare that with Gav who says he's prepared to travel some distance,.

Well, as soon as I have been granted my Cornish passport I will be applying for a multiple indefinite UK visitor's visa, so I could possibly make it as far as Devon :)

Phil, do you live where Cornish Pasties come from?  Why do you even bother with curries? No wonder your not in a hurry to leave. ;D  Keema Mater pasty.  Now there's an idea for the local BIR down your way.  Fusion cooking.  Oh, you said Passports.

Out here in the colonies a 400 km round trip is what some do for a daily commute.  800 km is a weekend drive without actually going anywhere.  Not for the trendy urbanites though.  We can travel 4000 km's coast to coast without the need of a passport.  Mind you it takes a week. to do it.  I'm about to do a 10oo km trip to go camping at Wee Jasper for 3 days over Easter.  Both lanes will be pretty heavy though. ;)

Or even an idea for our hotel kitchen.  Our French head chef is very keen on fusion cooking, although to be honest I wish he would shew a greater interest in French classics such as caneton

North East Scotland here so it would be a bit of an ask! Great idea though!

Hands up if you live in Scotland?

Perhaps we can do a  meet somewhere like Glasgow or Edinburgh - or indeed we could maybe book a table in a recommended curry house and share a few beers?
