Storing fresh coriander
« on: April 21, 2012, 01:41 PM »
Hi all
I have read different ways to store fresh coriander so I thought  I would share this with you.
Purchased two bunches of coriander on Monday, put one bunch in a brown paper bag placed in a dark cupboard and the other bunch in a a little cup of water, covered with a bag and put on the fridge.
Took them both out today (Saturday) the bunch in the cupboard was unusable, the bunch in the fridge looked and smelled the same as when i put them in.

Happy cooking

Gary

Yes, I think you have to keep it damp/moist to store it for a while.

On occasion we store for a while - wrap in damp newspaper and put in the fridge - keeps usable for days

best, Rich

The way I was taught, and still use. Blow into a plastic bag (containg the coriander) and tie the bag up and place in the fridge. The CO2 in your breath keeps it fresh for a good week, if not more.

I have been doing this at the moment and storing in the vegetables drawer of my fridge.

With the lid firmly on, have had this bunch of coriander for over a week, and it still smells and tastes fine, they are 1.5 litre boxes from ASDA.
I get 3 big bunches of coriander for 1 GBP.

Ditto UF
Fresh Coriander. Curry Leaves, Topped Green Chillis.

I sort it, discard anything that looks dodgy. put in a airtight container, wrapped
in a sheet of newspaper or kitchen roll, to absorb moisture.

Stick it in the fridge. It will all stay fresh for at least a month.

cheers Chewy

You have the correct spelling of coriander in your message but there is a glaring typo in the title.

Please edit the title before time out, or give me clearance to amend it for you, before your mistake goes into archive.
