Title: Tonight's Tea - Tandoori Mixed Grill
Post by: Stephen Lindsay on October 05, 2013, 09:07 PM
I thought I would do a mixed grill for a change. Sometimes Tandoori King Prawn is included in a mixed grill but I don't like seafood so I left it out. So here we have Tandoori Chicken, Chicken Tikka and Sheek Kebab with salad and yellow mint sauce. Most enjoyable.

Thankyou for that David Bailey  ;)  Looks excellent SL. I should really do more tandoori stuff myself as i'm very partial to tandoori chicken and sheek kebabs.  And with mint sauce, mango chutney, spicey onions and some some onion salad, a very pleasant change from curry.  But not too far removed though  ::) ::) ;D  Just cooked up a Zaal phall to exact spec and looking forward to tucking into that a bit later on  :P

Looks very tasty indeed, Stephen!  So good, I might even have swopped my Velvet Chicken with Pak Choi and Seasonal Vegetables in Oyster Sauce for it. Like the presentation, colours and flavour combinations too. :)

cheers CH that was what I was looking for - a bit of a change, and now I have some chicken left over which will be bunged into wraps for lunch during the week. My colleagues at work are now well used to my curry efforts permeating the office!

Last night we went out for tea and had a "chilli burger" which was basically a regular burger topped with some chilli con carne. However the killer was the added relish made with Naga chillies. Far far too hot for me but I think it would have been just right for you.

Enjoy your Phal CH.

Care to share that with my tonight's Garlic Chilli Chicken Masala and Veggie Jalfrezi? :)

Mine too  :o  The buggers at my place are forever requesting samosas and onion bhajis  ::)

Interesting combination.  Would love to sample that relish  :P :P  Must confess the "naga" sauce from the Ali's Viceroy is absolutely the dog's b******s on a donner kebab.  Simply cannot be beaten IMO  ;D
Time to get the phall on I think  ::)

Ah, Stephen! That's the only problem with cooking and devouring Chinese food - which, even if I say so myself, was absolutely delicious. It's great at the time but an hour later you're seriously looking for a big plate of tandoori grill!  :)

Naga, maybe next time you can line up the mixed grill and have the Chinese food as your starter!

All looking very nice mate.Have to say Dip's sauce is by far the best recipe out there, even better than some of the stuff I get from take-aways.

Looks very tasty SL

Is that a full Chicken Breast in the foreground.
I always do leg quarters, 2 for a quid and I haven't done any for ages.
Must put it on the ToDo list

Thanks for sharing ;)
cheers Chewy

Totally agree jb.  I would go so far as to say it's as good as, if not better than the stuff on offer not only in TA's but in the majority of restaurants as well !!!

Chewy yes it's a full breast, I was torn between that and also doing a full roast chicken but I've kept that for later. Some places here use "Chicken Supremes", i.e. a breast with some bone attached.

I agree with jb and CH about Dip's yellow mint sauce. I have been told that it's identical to some places in England. I have a few others locally, including s pink version, sometimes known as Glasgow Pakora Sauce, but this is by far the best and beats most places local to me.

I can quite honestly say, of all the mint sauces I have tasted over the years from many a restaurant, the best have equalled Dips. But nobody has ever surpassed it  :o  It might only be yoghurt sauce but it's one thing that has definitely been nailed  ;)  Maybe we should credit Dip with a little more skill than we have done and look underneath the surface of the videos  ???  There are several accounts on here from members who are extremely happy with their results from following his vids.

"You don't need eyes to see, You need Vision"

How very true this is.  A fittting comment from the person who runs this site from which we all benefit so much  :)

This looks great, tonight I'm cooking tikka(using blades excellent recipe) but need recipes for tandoori lamb chops, sheek kebab and koftas.
Can anyone point me in the direction for the best recipe on here for each of these( have searched and can't find one at all for the chops?)

Search the forum for 'lamb chops' and check out Bengali Bob's. Second one down in the results. Looks a treat  :)

For sheek kebabs use Razors original recipe.  My unposted recipe is virtually the same and produces as good a sheek than can be found anywhere round my neck of the woods.  Good luck with all these. Let us know how you get on  ;)
