Hi all, just wondering what curries anyone will be making this weekend?
Not sure what to cook yet, so I was hoping for some inspirations.
At the moment I am leaning towards a Vindaloo but using fresh superhot chilli in place of powders, quite fancy a runny sauce curry.
-
Just did Chewy's Rezala for tonight's dinner. I do have photos which I was thinking of posting up but, to be honest, I've posted up 2 curries in the past few days and didn't want to go OTT.
Still, the Rezala is a very good curry IMO and is definitely always worth another mention.
Like you still pondering what to rustle up for Friday.
-
Get them posted naga , never enough pics.
Yep Curry Friday is experiment and beer night, and Saturday curry for the Mrs

Probably won't be cooking from scratch, but I've got a chicken Tikka Bhuna in the freezer I made a few weeks ago in the freezer, which I know is going to taste good. Snoopy from the 'other side' came up with a new mix powder recipe which worked very well when I used in making it.
-
Rs sounds good, did the new mix have anything new in it? parsnip maybe
-
Knocking up a fresh batch of base on Saturday. Still to decide what curry to try. Still rooting through the recipes on here. Any recommendations? Wouldn't mind trying something a bit different.

How about a pheasant and cauliflower tikka bhuna masala jal basanti. That would be different :)
-
I think elachi North Indian special, tried it last weekend and it was crazy good. Taking pictures even went out of the window because I was too busy eating. One to make again soon.
-
Following an earnest request from my good lady wife - there is no higher authority! - it's a late decision to make Curryhell's North Indian Special for dinner again tonight. Yummm! :)
-
:'( :'( I wish somebody would make me one too :'(
-

Cheers MA. A madras with attitude then ;D Has potential indeed. Pre-cooked chicken and tikka planned for this weekend which will guarantee an NIS very early next week :P :P and a piping hot phall i'm thinking too. That's if i can remember how to cook. It's been a while :-\
-
I made 4 different heat levels of chicken madras with pilau, naan and veggie samosas :)
-
I wasn't planning on cooking anything tonight...big couscous night tomorrow...
But..
I'm doing a Malfrezi: Jalfrezi with no coriander or red pepper, just green chillis (large moroccan) and onion. Squeeze of lemon juice (or it'd just be a chicken curry) and a drop of worcester sauce.

...Curryhell's North Indian Special for dinner again tonight. Yummm! :)
Just scoffed it! And it was brilliant as usual! :)

Your missus has good taste, mine always demands the same (if I ask for her opinion!).
-
Not sure what to cook tonight, after last nights success I may try it again, chillied down for Mrs MA of course ;)
May do a Jalfrezi, or Bhuna ingredients permitting, looking forward to a few beers and a curry though, love Saturdays with the Mrs, little un and the tunes , beer and curry, what more could you ask for :)

Next is seared sea bass with roasted aubergine crush and petits pois, followed by balti lamb desi.
Rob :)
-
Well, the aubergine crush was a bit of a disaster. Recipe from Vivek Singh's Cinnamon Kitchen: The Cookbook. Plenty more recipes to try and the tandoori paneer topped with char-grilled broccoli florets/rose petal/almonds ranks as one of my favourite starters.
This weekend, however, I'll be making the wonderful sherpur donner in naan. Had some success with this already using prime Icelandic donner meat. Not decided on the main yet, but have some pre-cooked shin beef in the freezer.
Rob :)
-
Nice Rob, makes my cooking tonight sound boring, it will be either a Bhuna, jalfrezi or garlic, chilli korai
-
Hope there'll be porn to follow ;D

Where's the shaking one's head while looking up to the heavens and sighing emoticon when I need it!? ;D
using prime Icelandic donner meat.
Say what now? :o
Did I miss the part of the Donner's history where it derived its origins in the culinarily challenged country that is Iceland?

Back on topic though I'll be repeating a chicken ceylon (or sri lanka) I made earlier in the week with a twist of adding some pineapple juice and a few pineapple pieces. It was delicious; coconutty, lemony and slightly sweet.
And it's the first truly orange/yellow curry I've managed to make, all due to cooking it on a tiny flame as opposed to my usual 4.5kW flame for the whole cook. I never believed volcanic flames were absolutely necessary for a good BIR curry and I believe it even less now.
-
Well I made a veg soup in the week, blended up random selection of veg, then used leftovers as a curry base. It was gorgeous! I included a sweet red pepper so it wasn't too 'carroty', so I reckon I might recreate that as my curry base. Guess it would suit a ceylon if I add coconut milk? Roll on the weekend :)
