Title: The Great BIR Cook Off.
Post by: petespot on April 29, 2016, 10:22 AM
Surely after all the recent telly programmes on bake offs, masterchef, etc. etc. they could do a decent BIR cook off programme. Who could host it ? Who could judge it ? What episodes would you have ? Maybe base gravy, starters, mains etc. etc. What members on here would like a chance on a contest like that ? I will be an official taster !

I think it would make excellent viewing. Sadly i think if you mentioned the phrase "BIR curry" to the average person they would look at you a bit funny. It seems to be still a bit of an underground culinary activity the relatively few are aware of.

Good idea, but like Mike, I think it wouldn't reach the potential viewing figures required to be commissioned.

But if it did........

I'd have Phil hosting and Chewy and CA judging :)

How could CA judge a BIR flavour?
All those years in Aus makes him think you can add spices to cold oil and it makes a good curry!

He doesn't /say/ it, he /does/ it -- in his YouTube video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ilBQr4DlGJg).

Jesus FFS!!!

This ridiculous obsession you lot have with CA is beyond a joke now. Some of you need to get a life.  It was bad enough that you all were bitch fighting with him when he was a member here, but he's been gone, what, 2 years now and you still seem to drag him into every other thread on here.

Some of you dullards really need to get a life and move on to something more interesting.

Donald, according to the forum records you joined this forum on 05 July 2014, 15:05:27; the last post by Cory Ander using his normal "CA" moniker was dated 12 February 2013, 13:20:33 although he later returned (briefly) using another pseudonym, "Bruce".  From that, it would seem that you have not had the pleasure of experiencing Cory Ander at first hand (on this forum, at least; you may, for all I know, frequent other fora where he is still an active member -- I have no way of knowing).  Had you done so, you might better appreciate why those of us who had the misfortune to be members while he was still around (but clearly well past his best-before date) find it difficult, if not impossible, to avoid mentioning him from time to time.

Very sincerely :
** Phil.

No obsession here, but having CA as a judge of taste is quite laughable.
When was the last time he had a BIR ... as in an Indian curry in Great Brittan?  Does he know what one tastes like anymore?

His show of skill on video was contradictary to his posted opinion of other peoples posts and videos here.

I'd sooner have H4ppy or Sam as taste tester ;)

Do they even exist any more?

Well a large chunk of his recipes work really well for me and got me into home cooking so in my opinion hes doing something right. I also love Chewys, 976bar's recipes etc etc from this forum so no bias here. Ok he stuffed up on his first video.

He certainly was, for a large part of his career here.  Unfortunately he seemed to lose the plot towards the end, and his belief and insistence that he was always right, coupled with a complete inability to accept points of view that did not align with his own, alienated not only me but many other members of the forum.

So what on earth came over him to release it ?  Surely having viewed it just  once he must have realised that it would make him a laughing stock amongst the more knowledgeable members of the BIR community, so why did he not bin the first print and record another which would portray his undoubted skills in a better light ?
