Very best wishes to H-i-D for a full and speedy recovery, but before making any dietary suggestions may I ask for clarification of "no skins of vegetables" ?  Does this mean (for example) that anything including green/yellow/orange/red peppers would be out as "skinning" a pepper is a non-trivial task ?

Phil,thanks for your good wishes,appreciated.
With regard skins loosely means potato skins ,stringy beans, broad bean skins, brassicas have to be pretty finely chopped as peppers.Feel she needs taste and variety, she still manages a small amount of my curries too.
Cheers Geoff

OK, in that case Singapore rice noodles comes immediately to mind, and for a lighter dish, maybe Vietnamese scrambled egg.  If either of these appeals and you don't have a recipe, let me know and I will try to locate one for you.

Well, neither are bland to my mind (or I wouldn't eat them by choice !) but if you feel that they are not what you are looking I fully understand.  Can you be more specific about what exactly can and cannot be included, and what sorts of food your wife would normally eat ?

Thank you for your trouble Phil, feel I've got things wrong with the word bland.
We saw the oncologist yesterday, who said that anything goes with regard diet,a matter of choice(but little and often to keep things moving)'although he's not a dietician.
From what I can see,"she's" concerned about filling "the bag"up too quickly and getting caught short. It's all new to her,her tastes are many and varied though.

Understood, Geoff.  In that case, "little and often" of whatever she fancies !  But if neither of you have tried Singapore rice noodles or Vietnamese scrambled egg before, I can recommend both very highly, and I use the latter as a part of my post-EMR r

It's a bit quiet on here at the moment, Geoff, which may explain the lack of responses, but like you I had hoped for (nay, expected) rather more than have actually materialised ...

Try Quinao (A Super Food) with a Roasted Medley of Butternut Squash/Peppers/Aubergine/Corguette/Whole Garlic/ a little tomato paste and a little rapeseed oil. Season lightly and serve on the bed of Quinao.

Add a mixed leaf salad of Rocket/Red Onion/Cherry Tomatoes.

Make an emulsion of Olive oil/White Balsamic Vinegar/Sea Salt and Cracked Black Pepper. Drizzle over the salad.

Delicious :)

Just posted a recipe for SRN (http://www.curry-recipes.co.uk/curry/index.php/topic,13805.msg127146.html#msg127146) a few days ago, Geoff.  Had to cancel (defer) my visit to GSTT today as I have injured my left shoulder and it would have been unbearably painful to lie on it for the duration of the procedure (and I didn't want to take the risk of asking if I could lay on my right side in case they said "yes" but then forgot on which side I was laying !).

Sorry to hear of your good lady's trouble Geoff, as someone who was diagnosed with Crohn's disease over forty years ago I can sympathise. I am currently on infliximab to help me over two very bad years but the drugs stop early next year so I am looking for diet to prevent a recurrence. To that end I am trying a primal diet with a nod towards improving my microbiome. The science behind this is relatively new and is quite exciting for someone who has lived with IBD for as long as I have.
If you are interested try a book called The Diet Myth as a starter. The author is a medical researcher working out of a major London hospital.

Thanks Tempest63'can sympathise. with your problems, just hope there's a solution for you,40 years with Crohns is one helluva time, you've obviously worked your way through it.
As you can appreciate, this is all new to us,which is why I posted my request.Phil's Singapore noodle recipe is very tasty and welcome,as the Vietnamese scrambled egg.I'm sure there must be loads of recipes out there.
Have also done a version of 976bars quinoa recipe which went down well too,but am interested in the book, see what that throws up.Good luck with the Primal diet.
