Again, a 'local' dish at Lowton Tandoori known as 'Afgani', and was wondering if anyone had the recipe or could point me in the right direction please.

it is described as Lowtons special curry; chicken or lamb (slightly hot) - consisting of onions, green peppers, garlic, chilli sauce, tobacco and soy sauce. The combination of spices and sauces give this dish a tantalising taste.

Just to note...the takeaway describes korma as containing fresh nuts and sultanas but I have had this countless times and never had them in - so if you have any that sound fairly similar I'm willing to give them a go!

Thank you.

I posted my second (Chicken Tikka Shahee) before my first, but here is my CA base, CA mix and CA Korma :D
I was so happy with how the base looked and was so excited to try and replicate a BIR Korma - that I made the korma sauce without any meat to put in it - and sent the other half out to the local to get me a keema naan to dip in the sauce!!  :o
Luckily, he was suitably impressed also so didn't moan too much!

I managed to follow the recipes, other than use double cream rather than single as that is what I had in!

I'm a fan of coconut and mild curries so I think I may try another next, but I am keen to try different ones and work on my heat tolerance!

Pictures of Your Curries / 2nd Curry- Chicken Tikka Shahee
« on: October 04, 2016, 04:28 PM »
This is the second curry I have made using the recipes I've found on this site.

I used CA's curry base, spiced oil and spice mix. I think the Tikka was his recipe as well- although couldn't find powdered colouring anywhere? The recipe for the shahee was one on youtube as there doesn't seem to be one here!!

I was very pleased with it, although, I don't like lamb as a rule - but can usually eat it fine from our local - and this tasted too 'lamby' for me. I wonder if they prepare the lab different? I fried it before adding to the curry.

« on: September 30, 2016, 12:16 PM »
Hi,

Im sorry if this has already been requested, but i can't seem to find it.

I am looking for a recipe for a BIR Chicken Tikka Shahee, it is my other halves favourite dish from our local and i was hoping to find a recipe to replicate this for him. The dish is described as Chicken Tikka with minced Lamb & spices (medium/hot).

If anyone has any ideas that would be great!

Thanks

Hi all,

So I've been stalking this forum for the past week...but today got all my ingredients for my curry base and its subsequently now cooling. I used CA's base so I'm hoping that will give me a good starting point!  :D

My aim is to be able to make a korma similar to BIR.

Excited to try it out! once my other half actually gets the chicken he was supposed too...

Think the next thing is to make the spiced oil if i can find patch shoran and get some cassia bark!

Any hints/tips or pointers to some of the more tried and tested recipes are welcome!

Jenny
