Pictures of Your Curries / Re: Persian Beef Pirashki

What is the recipe for the pasty?

If you like an artist then support them by buying their music, don't rip them off.

It costs a lot of time and money to make and promote music. Even some top artists have now decided to stop recording new music because it isn't viable. Top recording studios are closing down, Very highly skilled recording studio people are losing their jobs. It means that recorded music won't be as good in the future.

30 million Youtube views will get an artist about ?1,500. Soundcloud and a lot of internet radio stations don't pay anything at all.

Bands from poor backgrounds can't afford to tour to try to make a name for themselves as they might only get ?30 for a gig and that is between them. Then consider they take time off work, travel costs, a night in a hotel. It isn't viable.

Soon there won't be any great new artists emerging... except for people from a wealthy background.

BIR Main Dishes Chat / M&S Black Dahl
« on: March 21, 2015, 11:17 PM »
Although sold as a side dish, I bought 2 and put them together in a frying a pan. It is VERY thick so I added some water and some finely chopped peppers. Add some chilli powder. WOW just WOW!

Although you wouldn't normally find Black Dahl in a BIR, this does have a BIR taste.

Thanks for the report.

If you are ever in Preston then you really must buy some Butter Pies.

Also look for street sellers offering potatoes (I think they are steamed or boiled) with cheese, beans & coleslaw.

Lets Talk Curry / Re: Tomato puree or tinned tomatoes

I tend to use deseeded fresh tomatoes and tomato puree (from tubes). It works well every time.

BIRs sell Fish Tikka Massala. Give it a go!

Fish (often seabass, monk fish, sometimes salmon) costs more money than meat or veg so they tend to be the more expensive exclusive items on the menu.

Also consider that BIR tend to add a lot of pre-cooked ingredients. Fish tends to be cooked from frozen so takes longer to cook.

I haven't got a spice grinder... so I used a bread knife to chop whole spices on a chopping board. It works really well.

I made it again tonight and it has become my favourite curry. It is really hard to go wrong. You guys really have to try this!

I use these haddock steaks and throw in some small prawns too:

I use either of these creamed coconut blocks:

BIR Main Dishes Chat / Re: Pataks Mixed Pickle in a curry?
« on: March 03, 2015, 07:38 PM »
My local BIR does Achar Sabji and I think I have only had it once, so it might well have been that. I guess they would have blended the pickle.

Mixed Pickle is served with poppadoms so it would seem logical for some BIRs to also use it in a curry.
