Lets Talk Curry / If You Could Only Cook One Curry?
« on: May 30, 2011, 08:48 AM »
My husband is 40 next month and im hosting a surprise birthday party for him.  I want to cook a huge pot of curry for our guest to tuck into at the end of the night and I was wondering which type of curry and which recipe you would all recommend if you could only cook ONE curry?

I havent actually cooked a curry from scratch off this website as yet, i was meant to try one a few weeks back but due to certain events it wasnt possible.

I dont mind having a trial run to make sure i like it, but i was wondering which recipe is everyones favourite?

I would prefer it to be chicken based but apart from that Im really open to suggestions.

Many thanks

Is this 1 TBSP of ginger paster + 1 TBSP of garlic paste or is it 1/2 of each?

Im having a blonde moment.  ::)

Lets Talk Curry / Can Anyone Name This Curry?
« on: April 17, 2011, 02:59 AM »
When i lived in back in the UK, King Balti (Walsall) was my fave restaurant and on their menu was a chicken dish which i loved but cant remember the name of it to try and find a recipe.

It was red, very sweet (not sour in anyway) and began with an 'S'?

Any ideas and also can anyone recommend a recipe for it?

Ive tried to google the place to see if a menu is on line anywhere but it isnt.

Thanks

With any luck i'll be turning the following into a fusion of rustic Mediterranean dishes....

....Kleftiko with Confit Byaldi.

Only trouble is, i've underestimated the preparation times and the long slow cook is still long slow cooking!

Axe - how do you present your photos like that?  What software do you use?

Thanks

Well this is the good, the bad and the ugly from my evening meal last night.

The bahjis were good  :D (picture bad!)

The butter chicken was ok but the vinegar taste was too strong for me so next time i will either try a different recipe or reduce the vinegar.  Can you tell I had lost the will with regards to presentation after spending the day cooking!!

And the less said about my solid ugly  nann breads the better!!!  Not a bubble in sight :( really disappointed in these.

Hmmm im not giving up, but i think i will stick to tried and tested recipes off this site from now on.
