Thank you for the patent number but I can't find anything related to that number on the UK's patent web site

I am glad that you like the product.  You are quite right, the nipoori trade mark indeed expired in UK, however, as we are now operating from Malaysia, it is registered over here and it does apply to all our product.

As for the patent number that you are trying to find on the website, the no.2348798 was the original UK number before it was superceded by the world application- http://www.sumobrain.com/patents/wipo/Cooking-method-apparatus/WO1998043519.html   which basically covers the same claims as the later US patent no 6706301.

Anyway, if you wish to place any cover over your bbq to replicate the hood design of our Nipoori, I think you are not breaking any patent laws, as long as no intention of manufacturing, selling, distributing, marketing or exporting it.  So good luck and enjoy.  But if you want to save all the hassle ; get your self a Nipoori, you wont be disappointed.

Hi George and Coogan,

Our UK patent no is: 2348798.  You may also see it on the packaging box.  I would also like to advice that Nipoori being a patented product, we dont encourage anyone to duplicate it for what ever reasons.  There are legal implications to it!

As for the search that you are doing through the internet, it is not the complete report, you need to buy the report officially.

Hi George,

Firstly, thank you for taking time to read through our web site content.

The Nipoori was indeed designed in England in 1997, but the most important fact about this is, it was the brainchild of an Englishman called Nicholas Vaughan. I have been involved from the beginning with Nick in designing the oven.  The Nipoori has been tried and tested and holds a world patent.

I have moved down to Malaysia to continue with R&D and production of the Nipoori.  Our latest model due soon,  has been improved with new material and design  like stainless steel and easy use of the Grill.  As you might be aware, Mr.Dyson (the vacuum king) has also moved his operation to Malaysia-with me!   ;D  (business continuation strategy).

You are not the only one who asked the 400C question.  Trust me, it does! and in a matter of minutes!  Pretty much can do any kind of cooking;  Cup of Char, no problem.....  I call it - Kamasutra of Cooking.

The Editor's of Stuff magazine called it "The Rajah of Barbecues".

Making arrangement to get one Nipoori down for the CRO's Party in the Garden, give it a go....

Cooking Methods / Re: Naan Cooked on a Nipoori
« on: June 17, 2011, 06:20 AM »
Hi George and All CRO members,

Indian food is as diverse as the many dialects of the Indian subcontinent, different from region to region and coast to coast.  As everyone who has been to a Northern Indian restaurant knows, the food of the North is not so hot and wheat-based breads are the staple.  Southerners, on the other hand, prefer fiery hot food accompanied by lots of rice.  My roots are from the south of India, thus my choice is rice!   Having said that, the many comments that I receive about the Nipoori not being able to cook a naan etc... was my point to proof that it can be done!  The most important for the Nipoori is to cook tandoori style - naan would be an individual preference.

I am also agreeable to you, taste comes first, than the look.    Would I make it again- Yes!   As for the taste, this recipe turned out the best among the many I have tried.

Naan Bread cooked on a Nipoori

Made this Naan Bread from a tested recipe.  I serve it with Honey Lemon Chicken and Green Lentil curry.

Servings: 6
Cook time: 20 minutes

INGREDIENTS:

2 tsp active dry yeast
1/2 cup warm water*
1/8 cup white sugar*
3 tbsp milk
1 egg, beaten
1 tsp salt
2 1/4 cups plain flour*
1 tbsp oil
1/4 tsp baking powder

*using 250ml cup measurement

METHOD:

1.   Take a large bowl and dissolve sugar in the warm water.  Add the yeast and stand for about 10 minutes, until it becomes frothy.

2.   Next, add the salt, milk, oil and egg and mix it well.

3.   Sieve in the plain flour and baking powder.

4.   Knead for 8-10 minutes.

5.   Place the dough in a well oiled bowl, cover with a damp cloth and set aside in a warm place, to rise.

6.   After about an hour, the dough will have doubled in volume.

7.   Pinch off about 6 small portions of the dough and roll into balls (rub a bit of the plain flour into your palm to prevent it from sticking). Cover it with a towel and allow to rest for another 30 minutes.

8.   Next fire up your Nipoori Oven.  Once it is ready, place the grill onto the bottom cone.

9.   Now roll out one ball of dough into a circle (not too thin).

10.   Lightly oil the grill and place the dough onto it and cook for 2 to 3 minutes or until puffy and lightly browned.  Turn it over and cook for another 2 to 3 minutes.  Remove it from grill.

11.   Continue the process until all the naan?s has been cooked.

Dear Cro Members,

I am sorry if I have caused any confusion by offering Coogan our new Nipoori Tandoori.  I can assure you all that I had not even heard of Coogan or of Cro, until Chriswg of cro invited me along.   For your information, we are based in Malaysia.

Of course, it would be my pleasure for all you Indian cuisine experts to try out the Nipoori Tandoori as soon as our first shipment arrives in the UK sometime in July.  I will have a unit sent to your spoke person and you can all try out the Nipoori- may be for the  2011 CRO Family Curry BBQ!

As for those who are not sure if the Nipoori can cook a nan, well seeing is believing,  I will post some pictures of how to cook nan in a Nipoori.  You can also cook Fish  Parcels, Vegetable Parcels, Steaks,  Roast a Chicken/lamb etc...  all it needs is your imagination not clay!

Check out the reviews:  http://www.nipoori.com/reviews.html

Hi Coogan

I'll see if we could sort a replacement charcoal support (the new stainless steel) for you.  Please keep me posted on your "experiments" (pictures or better still, short videos would be  great) .  Any suggestions /  recommendation from our pioneer nipoori users is much appreciated.

Hi Coogan,

Firstly, thank you for owning a Nipoori and thank you for your support.

As much as we wanted to sell the Nipoori, one thing that we didn't want was to give sub-standard goods to our buyers.  The factory in China where we manufacture, started to lack in their QC.  As a small player in the BBQ market, we need to also keep the cost of manufacturing to a certain price- with both factors compromised,  made us to stop production until we find a good supplier.  We managed to do so last year and our newer version (legs, rings and charcoal support are now made of stainless steel).

Another new is, we have now placed the BBQ grill inside the bottom cone as to our previous one using wind shield and placing the grill into it.  By having this grill inside, we are now able to cook  things like, roasting a whole chicken or baking fish etc... by just placing them on the grill and putting the top hood on.  Mind you, we are also able to cook naan bread by doing the same- placing them on a pan and putting it on the grill and cover it with the top hood.

We are indeed looking into the larger version of the Nipoori and it is in the R&D process with a design company.  This would also apply to the industrial/restaurant business.

Just to inform you that, we are now selling extra skewers (set of 6) and this new skewers are 2-in-1.  The longer attachment is used for cooking tandoori and the shorter one (the one with the handle) could now be used to cook smaller portions like satay's and used on the BBQ grill.

We will also be  introducing our very own tandoori mix and  spices soon.  I'll be happy to send you some samples for you to try them out.... :P
