Talk About Anything Other Than Curry / Re: Pizza dough

Slightly related but I have recently purchased a Roccbox which churns out fantastic pizza, not to mention any other food you decide to cook in it.  Price has gone up since it came of Indiegogo (and no doubt Brexit too) but its a great bit of kit. https://www.roccbox.com if you are interested, and there is a group on Facebook which sings its praises.

this looks ideal as a tandoor oven, bit steep at

just to add to this old post.

Curry house's in my locale are just too expensive compared to other eateries. It used to be an 'indian' was the cheapest option, certainly cheaper than a chinese for example. I'm sure they have bills same as the rest of us but,

Phil, your point is very well made. Just look at the ex-pat brits in benedorm who don't learn the language and expect 'little britain' instead of embracing the local culture. It's just not healthy and leads to hassle for both the interlopers and the natives. I find if you make an effort to fit in with the language and customs then the locals respect that.

Like I said in my previous post, the pakistani women I know are really friendly and couldn't make you more welcome in their homes when I visit for family occasions(always visit during ramadan for epic feasts!). None of the burka nonsense either in the house. The pakistani's (and bangladeshis which is same thing really) need to sort out the 18c thinking that is pumped down their throats by the dark ages imported imam's every week at the mosque. Like marrying first cousins from remote villages then importing them to the UK to 'keep the wealth' in the family because thats what used to happed 200 years ago so the family could keep 2 cows etc. madness.

Hell just watch the news when you see pakistan and it looks a like $hit hole with no sewers, health and safety/building regs or any respect for the individual. Personally I'm an atheist and I'm sure that is a capital crime over there. They are 100 years behind the rest of the civilized world mainly due to the idiotic religious practices being forced on the populace by a few nutters.

Ive got 3 kids and if some imam told me my daughter was 'property' to be traded/married off and couldn't get a job where a 'man' could see her face he'd get told where to go pretty rapid.

/rant off!

This has been on the cards for a while and to be honest the Pakistani/Bangladeshi community need to change and start integrating.

You never see any female staff in any takeaway/restaurant. That needs to change, it's uk not Pakistan and its not in any way racist to point that out. Most places are family run joints and it would be a lot better if all the family were to help out.

I can see why they want to use imported staff as they are dirt cheap, have no rights etc but then they start on the benefits gravy train and it takes the piss hence the gov are stopping it.

It wouldn't hurt for them to integrate more as well, the only time 99% of their customers see them is at work, they normally all live together. Just visit spark hill Birmingham some time. Not healthy.

I'm very good friends with several Bangladeshi and have attended their family functions but the way they have been indoctrinated by religion is bad and will take a few generations to sort out, the kids already are kicking back and I don't blame them. The girls are pretty much breeding machines and don't have an expectation of a career.

So to the point of the OP, its a very good thing that workers from Asia are being stopped, they can do what all other normal businesses do - train and recruit the best person for the job, not restrict it to male Muslims.

I just wish I could get enthusiastic about the idea of combining chilli & chocolate, but sadly I can't; for me, they occupy entirely different niches in my culinary spectrum.

** Phil.

I'm like that with cream and curry  ;D
