Traditional Indian Recipes / Re: Diggy's Dansak
« on: April 12, 2008, 04:48 PM »
Hey Diggy

Thought I may give this a go tonight but have a question.

You say 1 cup of pre cooked lentils, then go on to say to cook the lentils and the other veg for 30 minutes.

Just wondering whther there is any need to precook the lentils and then cook them again - couldn't I just cook the lentils, cook the veg, then add the lentils at the end?

Also, just wondered where the recipe came from...

Cheers

Balti Dishes / Re: Chef`s Special recipe- Chicken Balti.

Hi MAte

The recipe feeds two and it isn't bad.

To check it out go to www.curryhouse.co.uk and look at the free curry recipes - balti. The curryhouse site has been around for years - I reckon I first made that balti in the laste 90's!!!

I'm certain I recognise this recipe - I'm afraid it's not from a restaurant, but from the free recipes on Dave Smiths curryhouse.co.uk website.

Still tastes quite nice - if a little too strong of cinamon though.

I don't expect Dave Smith will be very chuffed that his recipe has been listed in a newspaper !!

« on: May 29, 2006, 06:15 PM »
Folks

Thgought I'd try the Jalfrezi tonight but I see it needs 3tsp of Kushi Spice Mix. The recipe refers to page 23 in the book so I searched on the net (the recipe doesn't say which book !!)and found it but it's paper only and ?10!!

Just wondering if anyone knows what's in the Kushi spice mix please?

Cheers

Hmmmm looks delicious! ;D

Going to give it a try tonight. Just wondering...do you use the small hot thai green chillis or the bigger fleshy milder ones??

Thanks for the fast reply matey.

Do you always use 1.5 litres of the base sauce? That seems like quite a lot for two people.

Darth

I fancy something different so thought I'd give it a try tonight.

Just wondering as 1.5 litres of base sauce seems a lot and theres only two of us - we eat after the kids have gone to bed!. Also, do you think it would go OK with prawns - under pressure from the Wife for something prawny  ;D

Cheers

Cheers Mark

You'd think after 10 years on curry on Saturday night we'd get bored but it never loses the appeal! I'm even going to try and lay of the vino while I'm cooking it tonight so i stand some chance of remembering how good it is :)
