Lets Talk Curry / Re: Good Curry in/near Bristol
« on: June 25, 2019, 07:22 PM »
Hi Stephen,

The last time I was in Bristol (August 2018) went to the Raj.
Had  the Early Bird and was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food - place was busy for a Wednesday evening.
Waiter said that it's had the same owner since the early 80's.

Ashes,
The last two times that I've visited Birmingham, I've eaten at the marvellous Al Frash on the Ladypool Road. Get some tinnies in the offie down the road and Bob's your uncle.

Having being born in Bangor, I'm surprised that the curry houses got such bad press given it's a student town and all.
The one down from the train station on the corner isn't too bad and the one on the hill towards the University is just OK. I have to add though, that I've not frequented these for a few years having moved away but have fond memories of tasting my first curry there in the early 80's, or maybe my memory is playing tricks on me!

Tandoori and Tikka / Re: Chicken Tikka - better than the BIRs

Like George, I also added some yogurt to the marinade and was very impressed with the results.
I started them off under the grill and then finished them off on the barbie prior to serving with a salad and the ubiquitous wedge of lemon!.......the kids also thoroughly enjoyed them also.

Cory Ander,
I've just made a small batch of Basmati rice using your method and it's turned out wonderfully!
I'll definitely be using this method from now on as it is even better than my local takeaway! ;)
