Silverside is a good quality joint like topside, it doesnt need slow cooking. I have used cold leftovers from Sunday lunch sliced thinly then poped into curry just long enough to heat through

In England mate, the one you have isn't available but other makes are. Like the look of the Instant pot from USA but they're a bit pricey :(

Hi Livo,

I have been thinking about getting a pressure cooker for making curries for a while and I see you use an electric one with different programmes. Can you recommend a particular make and are they the results worth the expense? The BBRC sounds very nice by the way.

One of the best curries I ever ate was in 1986 in a mess room on an Omani construction site. The kitchens catered for three thousand Asian workers who invited me there to try the chicken curry
And the "two can stuff themselves for less than AED 50" Indian cafe just around the corner from my wife's home in the Khalifa A district of Abu Dhabi also serves curries to die for.  It really does make me wonder why people are prepared to travel into the centre of Abu Dhabi and pay half of that or more just for a cup of coffee ...

** Phil.

Any chance of some more info on the cafe Phil, I'm off to Dubai early next year and a trip to Abu Dhabi is on the cards. Would love to pop in and try a curry ;)

Those shamis remind of when I was an apprentice, back in 79, and had to eat in a dodgy canteen which served up Spam fritters.

I've never seen battered shamis before, and I'm from Scotland. Just goes to show that we all have different tastes and expectations.

I think its egg mate, not batter as such.
