Hi, Blondie
Sorry i had  not notice that comment .
Yes they are using tomato ketchup in the curries.
The answer that i got from them when i asked why ? Spices are a little bit bitter.
They never use it in the Korma.
I noticed that a chef was using it in the Chicken tikka masala ,please see my thread titled by that name.
Thanks
Ghanna

British Indian Restaurant Recipe Requests / Re: onion bhaji help
« on: April 19, 2005, 09:07 AM »
Hi, All
The lady came and talked to me this morning.
She read every thing
Every one in our neighborhood is reading and watching this site, even the people in the pub are speaking about it .A lot of people will join? soon, now they watch it as guests.
She liked what i say-ed about her, she is 100% sure now that i gave her the origanal recipe and i did not hide any thing from her.
We made a deal .
I am going to make my samosa in front of her own eyes ,and she going to make the True Butter Ghee in front of my own eyes.
She is only putting one condition, i am not going to tell any one about it (True butter ghee ) because this is her own living. i agreed.
Any way i don't think that a lot of people are very concerned about True Butter Ghee.
She is selling a lot of samosa and bahaji to the pubs as well
Thanks

HI, John
I saw them with my own eyes before.
No one told me .
They are using tomato ketchup in the curries  to make it a little sweet ,Specially if they did add any spices to the curry .
The spices make the curry taste a little bit bitter, you know why because the spices are  cooked only for a very very short time..
Just to proof my point     ......try to taste the spice mixture that they use , it is bitter.
Thanks

Hi ,All
Pete  posted a curry gravy that uses canned tomato soup before .
He said it was published in one of the magazines.
For a chicken tikka masala or korma or pasanda or dhansak  it is more than fine .
But not for vindaloo,madras,phall,...........etc.
This is my experience after trying it.
Thanks

Hi ,Curryking
He was cooking a business lunch at one of my friends.
He cooked a lot of things.
Believe me his Chiken Murgh was some thing out of this world.
May be some other time i will post it  (I have to search for it )
I left every one there and kept watching him very carefully. I didnot  talk to any one there only him
Because of that now every one in our group don't invite chefs to cook for us ,we go to the restaurants.so we can have a proper meeting.
The basic ingredients were already cooked ,he just assembled it .
One thing that he cooked fresh was the chicken Murgh, it took approximately 40 minutes.
I left every thing and just had that.
You made me remember its taste . Now i have to look for it.

This is what i know about chicken tandoor and chicken tikka ,may be some one else can advice us.
Thanks
ghanna
