let you off SS - I've moved on to a trike nowadays - Billy Connolly started me into trikes !

I now have a 3.5 litre  rover engined trike

Jerry - done a web search and it confirms that olive oil is capable of reducing cholesterol - the extra virgin is supposed to contain more anti oxidants - whatever - in a couple of months I will be on a retest and see where my levels are at.

(while I was at the 'tests' situation - comes with the 60+ age gov med routine chesks  - my missus insisted on a prostate count too ! - we know a few peole who have had 'no symptoms of prostate problems ' - but on a random routine check been found to be at danger level of prostate cancer.  Luckily I scored a 1.2 - when less than 4 is good ).

Aint getting older great !

as a past ex pat from Dubai, I find it unbelievable you cannot find a good curry in Dubai.  Get your self to the RAVI restauarant at Satwa - order a chicken tikka a naan and a curry sauce - also ther butter chicken is excellent.

Try also the Khyber restaurant.

If you are looking in the phone books - look under Pakistani restaurants - NOT Indian - they differentiate precisely there as to the true origins.. Khyber dishes that excell are chicken butter boneless, Khyber special veg

On an interesting note, my doctor recommended recently a daily intake of a teaspoon of olive oil - preferably extra virgin - to reduce my cholesterol level !  Have it now sprinkled over my cornies and taste is ok. [not instead of milk - as well as]

now SS - you wouldn't want to be doing that I can assure you - as a long time biker I have been round the block more than a few times and handle those situations as required as and when they occur - and as a recent (27.10.10) ?s donator to this site in deference to the good work / words  here - would prefer a little more respectful response to my posts

commis - yep - washed 'em 1st - then into oven - a site i looked at said 5 hours - but some of the 'fatter' ones were still needing a bit more drying - so did it for 6 hours and all ok.

tasted brilliantly when used to gee up a tikka massalla sauce ex M&S for a chicken dish

- even the missus had to concede it tasted ok

Jerry - not tried the Warrington one - and don't intend to.  I hear there is a very good Indian at Stockton Heath which I may check out.

Akrams Oasis in Rusholme was good while it lasted ( I knew Akram personally and if you asked for Asian cuisine there - you got it !)- sadly Akram went bust - maybe too many fingers in too many pies and a lot of 'personal' problems.

It is incorrect to say i am not a fan of BIR - I just prefer the good ones as opposed to the rubbish ones where everything tastes the same - or they take lazy short cut chances - the one at the end of my road used to do a brilliant dish - chicken with minced lamb  in a very tasty sauce - the minced lamb has now become  pieces of scrunched up seekh kebab - nothing like the same - and another one not to visit in my book

even before I was introduced to the real stuff in the middle east ('76-'84) - I tried the Timperley  Hilal - and it was garbage compared to the other Indian restauarants at the time and here i am talking pre 1975 !! (Hlilal Timperley was opened 1969 - a very poor 2nd to the Taj Altrincham which I vsisted in @ 1963 - so my 'indian palate' goes back a fair ways)

Seems to me nowadays - any Bangladeshi who has done a stint as a waiter and can raise a few bob in his community will try and open his own restaurant or takeaway with the one sauce sorts out all approach - not for me thank you SS - I want a good meal when i go out - and the more authentic the better - and I don't mean the michelin star nouvelle cuisine Dilli Altrincham approach either - far too prententious now - BUT - when it 1st opened - excellent - and soon after - within a year - off on the 'nouvelle' tangent

wish I could remember the name of the curry house in Aldershot - went there with my wife, daughter her friend & boyfriend @ 10 years ago.

Food was indifferent, prices 'highish', service abysmal - so I didn't bother leaving a tip as i paid on my Access card - ?102 for 5.

Stupid idiots in the curry house thought it would be ok to add ?12 to the bill AFTER it was paid and somehow clearly forged what was forwarded to Access by them - thinking no doubt I wouldn't remember what I had paid when i received my Access bill weeks later - let alone keep a copy of my card payment receipt - with a clear line through the gratuity bit showing total as ?102.

So, I wrote to Natwest Access re the incident with a copy of my receipt and pointing out the obvious forgery attempt and I was rewarded with a complete refund of ALL the payment.  Serves the gits right !

Next problem I had with my Access card and asians (Bangladeshi) was the cloning of my card by them at a SAVE petrol station in Sunbury on Thames.  Natwest duly informed me NEVER to use a credit / debit card in a SAVE petrol station - they were inundated with card cloning problems at them  !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As I understand it, SAVE eventually went bust - thank god

Oh my god - who recommended the Hilal?

Garbage if you really appreciate authentic asian cuisine.

I have been in twice - with a 20 year gap in between - and it was still crap.

OK I suppose if you don't know any different 1!
