Please remove or ignore this post.  I hit the "Modify" button in my post above but it did a recursive quote instead and I didn't realise.

Pictures of Your Curries / Re: Tandoori Chicken

Garp, they are delicious and I have you to thank for it.  Nobody ever complains about eating them.  The recipe I've been using lately is from the Misty Ricardo ebook you posted about a while back.  I've been using it as a basis for a lot of my cooking of late and I couldn't be more pleased.  While I don't follow all of the recipes to the letter (I also draw from other great advice here), I have found it to be a valuable resource.

I find that the char-grill plate over volcanic rock on the gas Barbeque gives a really nice finish to these leg/thigh cuts  (Marylands). As they are on the bone I usually give them about 10 minutes per side on the barby with the lid down and then finish them off in the oven till they are cooked through.

This has hit the press out here as well. Some millennials may possibly go back to bacon and egg rolls with cheese and barbecue sauce, but most won't be in any rush.  My 20 year old daughter asked me to buy some coconut oil last year, so I did and it remains mostly unused in the pantry. I have used some in an occasional curry.  It would appear that every other week there is a new claim about what some food is doing to you.  FODMAP, Nightshades, etc.  Imagine curry without Chilli or tomato.

I live without coconut oil but I wonder how this "Poison" claim reconciles with the Pacific Islanders who use all of the coconut in just about anything they eat.

The Robot Coupe I used at work didn't get used more than 10 times and then started over heating and cut out.  It was out of the guarantee and a new motor would cost

Traditional Indian Recipes / Re: Chicken and garlic chaat
« on: June 19, 2018, 11:09 PM »
I'm not too surprised by that Phil. It's just another case of same word, different usage in the Indian culinary application. Chaat (chat) is a general term for finger food.  While Chaat Masala can be and is used in the preparation of some Chaat dishes, it is also widely used as an additional condiment type sprinkle to spice chaat foods up afterwards. Garam Masala has both of these uses as well. Ingredient spice or condiment.
I doubt that Chaat Masala is necessarily used in the preparation of all Chaat dishes but it is available for addition to taste. Think of plain salt or chicken salt on your potato chips. Chaat Masala is also a tasty addition to potato chips or tempered potato.

When visiting the local T/A don't get fully cut and upset the chef.  This probably isn't the best review a restaurant could hope for.

Still the food must have been OK because the customer wanted more. "something spicey".

"Least said, soonest mended" but I would just like to gently point out that it was not you that I (jokingly) suggested could confuse cassia bark with cinnamon but was in fact "pap rika" and was in response to his "might be barking up the wrong tree ...".  The barking/bark joke opportunity seemed just too good to miss  ...

** Phil.
The internet forum arena is known to be lacking in the interpretations of the nuances of intended outcomes. Caveat emptor. My mistake. All is forgiven.

Approach internet discussion with no immediate baggage. And here is another AUS slang. I flew off the handle.
