I don't think it is out of the question to report back to any establishment about the quality of their respective product.  If you let management know that they will be losing business due to poor quality control, they should rectify the issue if they have any business acumen at all.

Rather than bin it, I would have frozen or fridged it till I could return for a credit.

If all the other spices are whole, I'd suggest using whole pods. It wouldn't hurt to just use seeds or ground.

Lets Talk Curry / Re: Curry2Go Achari Gosht
« on: November 14, 2014, 01:11 AM »
Sorry to drag back up an old thread but Achari gosht is a favorite if mine but I wouldn't know how a BIR version is distinguished. Surely it has to be more than a spoon of mixed pickles added to a standard curry?  I'm well familiar with traditional recipes which use pickling spices added whole, just wondering what the BIR standard might be? And how is this recipe from "curry2go" put together?

Sverige:- I read somewhere recently that naming curry dishes is nothing like naming planets.  In other words there are many different dish names and basically people apply them as they see fit to almost anything.

Secondly, I have recently found that the addition or omission of a single ingredient may be all that is required to warrant a name change and in some instances it even tastes different. ;D

Les, I wont post the recipe here as it could be (is) a copyright issue.  The rules of the forum clearly state that copyright material is not to be posted.  The book is titled, Real Balti Cookbook, Mridula Balkekar. 1996, Random House Publishing. ISBN 0 09 180975 4

Although I would ask the admin / mods, if this is an "Educational" forum, and the works are properly referenced and acknowledged, as I did in the OP, is it acceptable to present the recipe?

All good and I did. absolutely delicious and the revised Rogan Josh was better but I still needed to fix it. Balti Chicken is a good and easy cook. Yummm
