Talk About Anything Other Than Curry / Re: Bringing back hanging
« on: November 21, 2014, 08:54 AM »
I'm not sure how serious this thread topic actually is, but the reintroduction of the death penalty in this country is one of only two things that would make me leave without hesitation.

Talk About Anything Other Than Curry / T's & C's
« on: November 21, 2014, 08:53 AM »
Just out of curiosity, are there and Forum terms and conditions I should read before posting? I've been reading through some old threads and it looks like there have been all kinds of arguments and discussions about people posting links to other sites etc? I'm just curious what the deal is, are all out bound links to personal sites frowned upon etc? If anyone could give me a steer on this I'd appreciate it. Don't want to go rocking the boat.

Lets Talk Curry / Re: What curry you cooking at the weekend?

Knocking up a fresh batch of base on Saturday. Still to decide what curry to try. Still rooting through the recipes on here. Any recommendations? Wouldn't mind trying something a bit different.

Currently listening to the French electro-pop / shoegaze stuff by M83.

Check this out. Simple but very, very effective.

Is the  Bengal Dynasty, Llandudno same group as the Queensferry Shotton one viewable off the main road?

Passed Queensferry, Shotton one many a time & looked & just from the appearance thought 'Naaaaah' - it just doesn't even look right from the outside

That's the Amantola. Been there a couple of times, never been impressed. No idea if it's owned by the same people, sorry.

Just so everyone's aware by the way, I know the username might be confusing but I have nothing to do with Pat Chapman, or Madhur Jaffrey, or Marks & Spencers, or anyone else with a "Curry Bible".
Basically I started creating a document a while back in which I could keep my favourite BIR recipes, then a few people asked if they could see it, so it became public. Then it needed a name, and the Curry Bible was simply how I was referring to it, so the name became public too. Then it dawned on me that trying to keep a digital document up to date, in the public domain was actually pretty tricky, so I set up a quick blogspot site hosting all the same recipes. Sometime later I realised that blogspot was a bit "90's" so we shifted over to wordpress (the current website) and haven't looked back.
The main reason the site exists is for my own personal use, I've got an horrific memory so need somewhere to refer back to for my recipes, and if anyone else happens to find it useful, then great. :)

I know I'm digging up an old thread, but I feel terrible. I lost my login details / email account at around the time Razor asked for advice, (my username back then was Ootini).

I've sent Razor a PM apologising for not replying in time. It turns out though, that the Llandudno area's luck is changing when it comes to Indian cuisine. There's a new restaurant called Jaya in the village of Deganwy. Going there again this weekend so I'll add a review to the "Recommended restaurants" forum. If they managed to keep up the consistently high standard we've enjoyed so far.

Wow! You guys put my 60+ to shame!

I guess the next question, is which cook books are your favourites / would you recommend?

Lets Talk Curry / Re: New BIR e-book, by Dan Toombs
« on: November 18, 2014, 12:09 PM »
I've got Dan's seafood book and really enjoy it.

Specifically, how do the results you've achieved from his BIR type recipes, compare with dishes actually served by the best BIRs? Or are they just approximations of food prepared by below-average BIRs, as so often seems to be the case?

To be fair, I rarely order seafood in BIRs so a one to one comparison is difficult. And, I tend to wing it at some point during the recipe adding my own twist, but on the whole I enjoy them.
