House Specialities / Re: Garlic Chilli Chicken

Thanks for the recipe, 976bar. I was going to make Abdul Mohed's Chicken Saagwala tonight, but your Garlic Chilli Chicken has just put the brakes on that project! The photo looks good enough to eat, never mind the curry - I can almost smell it from here!

Mulligatawny soup! That fairly takes me back as I was hooked on Heinz mulligatawny soup for years when I was younger.

I don't have my own recipe, but, looking at the ingredients on the Heinz tin, I reckon that the Hairy Bikers recipe on the BBC Food website would be a good starter for 10. I'm not too sure about the sweet potato, but it would certainly help to bind the soup.

It's at: http://www.bbc.co.uk/food/recipes/mulligatawny_soup_68949

I know this is a bit late in the day, but Tesco sell the same stuff you can buy in See Woo supermarkets and other Chinese shops.

It's Goldfish brand: http://www.tesco.com/groceries/Product/Details/?id=263414246

Obviously, the Chinese supermarkets sell many more brands in varying tastes, but if you're shopping in Tesco anyway...

Well, tonight I made the enhanced gravy and pre-cooked the chicken the Abdul Mohed way and put the results into his Chicken Dhansak. It's a dish I've never ever tasted, so it was more than a bit of an experiment.

Superb! What more is there to say? I am delighted with the results and I'll definitely be trying out more of the recipes Abdul has posted here.

I thought I was condemned to making mediocre curries, but I think I've seen the light!

Thanks, Abdul!

This thread has really inspired me to have a go at some of the recipes Abdul kindly posted for us here.

I've not had great success at reproducing good Asian cuisine (although, with all the help on this site, you'd think that was impossible!) but I'm going to have another go at it.

I see that Abdul hasn't updated the thread for a while, but I hope he comes back to it as his help and advice are very much appreciated.

How jealous am I lol!

I've only been to one chilli festival and that was at West Dean in Sussex. I flew down from Scotland, so couldn't take any plants, beers, chutnies (or anything, really!) back with me on the plane.

I wish there was a festival local to Scotland so that I could load up on all the types of goodies illustrated above.
