Discount Wine Online
« on: February 09, 2013, 09:18 AM »
Anyone recommend a site for buying some reasonable cases of white wines?

An awful lot offer 'discount' wines but so many to sift through so thought I'd ask in here.

Can't answer for anyone else, but personally, no.  When I am looking for wine I will try good supermarkets (looking to see what is on special offer : Sainsbury's Tunbridge Wells stock an excellent range including Hermitages (the real thing, not Crozes-Hermitages), Gevrey-Chambertin, Vosne-Roman

I joined naked wines around 6 months ago, had some very nice wines. It's useful as members rate all the wines they have had. I love a good New Zealand marlborough sav blanc, incredibly tasty, and have had some nice ones from naked wines. Google naked wines.

My favourite place for buying wine which tastes good at any price is:

http://www.thewinesociety.com

I generally drive up to Stevenage and buy in person from their showroom. Friends of mine who live further away, get crates / bottles delivered by parcel post.

I tend to believe what the Wine Society say about a wine, whereas I don't trust what the supermarkets say.

Yes, I hope I wasn't appearing to suggest that one should rely on (e.g.,) Sainsbury's for information; what I actually was suggesting was to do your research in advance and /then/ go to (e.g.,) Sainsbury's to see if that they have (ideally on offer) matches what you are looking for ...

Thanks for the replies!

I am a rank amateur but am partial to a Chablis or good Sauvignon Blanc; not as struck on reds but tbh have not tried many.

I'll check out some of those sites though.

Personally I buy all my wine from Asda (Huge branch in Milton Keynes)
and I prefer red wine but I think their prices are very competitive.

When I've been to Majestic wines you have to buy in cases of 6.

My favourite for the last few months is Lindemans Tollana Shiraz Cabernet Sauvignon (Red)
but they sell a good range of whites

I agree with Petrolhead
I'm a volenteer Bar manager at our local Rugby/Cricket Club
and out all the supermarkets Generally you get the best deals from asda
