Highly rated French Restaurant : Hengist, Aylesford

(No optimal thread for this one, so posting here).

Khanh & I went to Hengist in Aylesford last night, and I was very impressed indeed.  The owner/chef is Richard Phillips, allegedly a "TV Celebrity Chef", with the likes of which I would normally have no truc (apart from Raymond Blanc jr), but this guy clearly knows his onions and the combinations of flavours were out of this world.  I had poached egg followed by grilled hake, and Khanh had Cromer crab followed by English lamb, but these brief descriptions do no justice whatsoever to the actual combinations of ingredients and flavours of which each dish was composed.  The "Market Menu" is extremely affordable at

Creating a topic in the "non curry chat" generic section would have made more sense than to post it in a specific and non-generalist one.

Sorry to disagree, it would certainly be lost in curry chat.  Better posted in the restaurant review section as  was done.  I am sure it would have been posted in the correct section, had this not had to be removed by Admin due to an extreme invasion of SPAM some 18 months ago.

Following the sad suicide of the owner (Paul Smith) in Aug and subsequent closure, I understand the Hengist has been sold at auction for
