Char grilled broccoli vs Paneer makhani (ex-hot)
« on: September 03, 2014, 11:06 AM »
Been meaning to give paneer a go for a while.  Really tasty. Apols for fuzzy pics. Think a couple are without flash.

Starters

Char-grilled broccoli florets with rose petal and almonds served over tandoori paneer

Same as above, but with toasted cashew nuts, which appear uncannily slug-like. Good though.  The red chilli ends up on the curry below.

Paneer makhani (ex-hot). With mushrooms.

Started with a madras in mind, then thought to go with a Kadai paneer, and mushroom, but realised had no green pepper left.  So the madras turned into a Paneer and mushroom ceylon.  Added a knob of butter and decided it was probably nearer to a Paneer makhani.  Could actually be a Ceylon though.  Vindaloo strength and some more.  That is not oil on the top by the way.  It's BIR juice.  Possibly a little too much juice.

Rob  :)

That all looks fantastic - although very wicked placing that up just before lunchtime...

Was the paneer marinated at all before cooking?

Homemade paneer is lovely and so easy to make.  It takes about 20 minutes and 4 pints of whole milk makes roughly 400g of paneer.  I normally tikka mine up.

Class as always, Rob.

I detest broccoli, but I think I'd give that a go. And the Makhani looks gorgeous  :)
