must be easy to ban by IP address, even though if they are smart, can use a proxy

I couldn't disagree more. The interest in this thread suggests the opposite and, in any event, it's only one thread with a particular theme and style of robust debate. If you don't like it, then don't tune in, like I don't read sports pages in newspapers. Concentrate on the huge choice of threads with recipe type themes.

You suggest it may be time for "some moderation and close this thread". I've made one or two minor edits in this thread, based on the rule for no bad language. It's not my approach to lock threads, like CA used to do, and probably still does elsewhere.

what about the potential NEW members who viewed this thread in all its glory and thought....blow this, i ain't joining this pile of hit'n'miss

and also the current members who are fed up with logging in and continually seeing threads like this which devalue the whole ethos of the forum....
