Food Standards Agency

More for interest than anything else

Whilst watching my 'streaming box' (ooo erh matron) in the kitchen the other night, I get the local news update from London instead of north eaast and there was a report about food hygine inspections by Which magazine and Lewisham was ranked 396th out of 398 worst hygenic food businesses in the country. Heres a map from Which magazine

http://consumerinsight.which.co.uk/maps/hygiene

The report also stated that you can go on the Food Standards Agency site and look at results for all of Britain.
A bit further investigation by me found a smart phone app called Scores on the Doors
http://www.scoresonthedoors.org.uk/
which tells you the ratings around where you are. It certainly makes interesting reading.

I'll save my opinions for later.  :)

NB. Just looked more closely at the map and Edinburgh (which was my second home for most of my school life)  is worse than Lewisham. :-\

Enfield is the worst

I remember this "scores on the doors" thing was on the forum a few years back. Someone (Bobby Bhuna I think) pointed out that the better the bir, the poorer the score!

It will be interesting to see if anything has changed!

Mick

Just goes to show that nothings new on here  ;D.  Food hygines always a touchy subject in my opinion. I can remember in days gone by when people who would complain about the slightest thing in this country would then go to Spain and eat in places that smelt like a sewer with a honking toilet next to the food area but the fact you could feed your family for

Note that out of Scotland (which curiously seems to be consistently in the lowest 40% throughout???) there seems to be a distinct correlation between poor food hygeine and uban development.

Check.

No U-bahns in Coxheath, but the Coxheath Tandoori didn't do too well ...

I could be wrong, but my reading of this is that the map reflects the number of Local Authority inspections carried out, not the findings thereof.
