I can do Vindaloo, but I'll be heading back to the UK from Japan in a couple of weeks and am going to level up to a Phall.

Used to eat Bangalore Phal at least once a week until one day I developed IBS; since then, Madras/Dhansak/Bhuna are my norms, a vindaloo on very rare occasions, and never again a Bangalore Phal.

I'm going to give the Phall a crack, but has been a while since I had a proper hot curry - Indian curry in Japan is mild at best (restaurants are afraid that they'll get bad reputation for serving curry that's too hot). I run a curry site here and thinking would make a good blog post.

I comfortably eat my own vindaloo. Occassionally I do something really hot for my Brother-in-law, but I don't really enjoy the experience (or the day after). I much more tolerant of chilli powders, than fresh green chillis for some reason.

Been searching for a hot curry in Japan for ages, but what they tend to do if you ask for "extra hot" is just make it above mild and give you some dry chilli power to add by yourself. Think it's hard (or not financial viable) for them to get a regular supply of fresh chilli peppers here. They aren't stocked in any of the major supermarkets either.
