What do you have for pudding after a curry?
« on: September 14, 2015, 05:33 PM »
Just a quick one, what do you guys like for dessert after a curry? Have many of you tried Indian sweets?
The reason I ask is because we have just launched www.delhish.com and would love to send out some samples to people who may be interested in giving traditional Indian sweets a try! Get in touch through our website if you might be interested in trying/reviewing some for us!!!

My personal fave is Kaju Katli, a sweet made with cashews and edible silver. Always hits the spot after something spicy!  ;D

To be honest, I rarely have room !  But if I have, it is usually an ice-cream of some sort (maybe coffee or chocolate flavour).  I do like Indian desserts (gulab jamon, jelabi, kulfi and so on; even ras malai) but these are more likely to be eaten to accompany a coffee than after a heavy meal.

P.S.  Just took a look at your web site; I think you are missing out by offering European bay rather than Indian bay ("tej patta") :  http://www.delhish.com/collections/spices/products/bay-leaves

Sorbet is all I can face. And a glass of wine.

Hi Delhish
Traditional Indian sweets are mostly very very sweet in my experience.
Tried quite a few over the years, but I would class them as a sweet confection, rather than a pudding.

A good poached pear with cardomom syrup or a Carrot Halwa are my puddings of choice after
a spicy meal.

Anyhoo, good luck with your start up and cooking.
cheers Chewy
