Morrison's Volcanic Vindaloo
« on: July 03, 2018, 09:38 PM »
So tonight I ate the second main course included in my £5 "Indian Meal for Two" purchase from Morrison's (Bodmin).  As I was dining somewhat earlier (20:00, or thereabouts), I was not concerned about the potential heat of the vindaloo, and prepared and served it identically to yesterday's CTM.  It needed salt (of course) but the heat was just fine -- initially I would have rated it as a hot Madras, but the more I ate the more the heat became apparent, and by the end I was certain that it had every right to term itself a vindaloo — and I was not tempted at any point to add a little Khanum mixed pickle !.  Slightly too tomato-ey for my taste, and perhaps slightly less chicken than in the CTM, but a fine meal nonetheless and one that would not disgrace any modern BIR takeaway.  Hats off to Mr Morrison once again.
