This is probably the place for discussing the use of the Quote feature. Does exactly what it says on the tin! :D

Haven't you got anything better to do? Back in 2007, the then membership no doubt had better things to discuss than waste their time on infantile drivel like this, so there was no response to Jethro's opening post.

Some people may think it's harmless fun or banter. I suggest it risks bringing the forum into disrepute because when new members turn up and see threads like this, they could be forgiven for thinking this forum is a waste of space. I'm minded to delete this thread, unless anyone can suggest a good reason why not. That's anyone outside of the cliche who seem to be fueling this kind of mindless chat room rubbish, unwittingly or deliberately trying to spoil the forum.

First you defaced the forum with huge images, and now this.

I don't think you can really have it both ways, George.  Only two weeks ago you wrote :

Strange folks? We still achieve more than on forums where anything remotely off-topic is deleted.
and now you are proposing not just to delete a single off-topic post but rather an entire thread.  On balance, I think your earlier perspective is the better -- we are what we are because we do tolerate a certain amount of off-topic posting, and those fora that rigourously stamp down on such things are the poorer (and less welcoming/friendly) as a result.

As one of those who goes off-topic more than most, I am in the future going to try to add all off-topic contributions to this thread (if you don't delete it) and add an explicit redirect from the main thread so as to try to leave the latter uncluttered.

When's that 401st going to be ready, Onions. The last 400 were excellent. Can't wait for the promised Giraffe Anaconda Bhuna Muskrat Tikka Rolf Harris.
