i don't think u'll get anyone to advise on moding an existing burner. the amount of air that can be drawn through the inlet into the jet is the limiting factor.

my stove was rated at 2.5kw and i enlarged the jet by buying a very small drill bit. it took my burner upto ~9kw mark. part of my need was to get the flames to wrap so i could accept a slightly cooler flame ie more yellow. if u want purely heat ie blue flame then i feel u will struggle and need to buy the required spec.

ps for making curry u don't need more heat than ~9Kw. i don't know where the cut off is but 4Kw is not enough and ~9Kw is too much.

interesting jerry so you raised your Kw over 3 times by drilling out the jet, i need the heat but doesn't necessary need to be intense.

on this basis 26Kw [approx] is achievable from a 8.8Kw burner??

i spotted that my burner was sold with 3 options for heat output. i'd bought the lowest and hence had scope to increase.

i was lucky - most burners are designed for a set output - the air intake is fixed.

i think the burner in your picture is already at the extent of it's heat output capabilities (based on looking at the body/dia of the burner). u might get a little more out of it but not that much. i'd say 25% tops.

if u need circa 26kw then u need a different "bigger" burner than what's in the pic.

Hi Chaps, I'm needing your knowledge here about gas/boiling rings

is it possible to get a gas ring with a high kW rating of about 20/30kW?? (i cant find one)

or

is it possible to de-regulate a burner like this [8.8kW]

to get a higher kW? if so how much is it possible to get out of it?

Thanks UB

Hi UB
If you enlarge the hole that the gas comes out of, you will increase the size of flame.
BUT you also increase the output of poisonous gases
When your flame is burning yellow, lethal fumes are being released

I thought if I had huge flames I could automatically achieve the missing curry flavour.
But I didn't.
It does smell nicer cooking though
You get amazing aromas as the oil from the pan splatters out into the flames.
If you want to flambe it is easy to

I put my big burner in my garage where I can do all my "smelly" cooking without stinking the house out

ill email them see how much ?

that one in the pic above would be perfect if i could get enough out of it as its quite cheep
Hi UB
I could have a look and see how much it would cost to send you one of the ones from http://www.optimgas.com/index_an.htm. There are loads of different types and brands of them here in Spain. I use a double ring burner because the wok fits inside it perfectly and it gets really hot all around the wok.
