World's biggest curry!
« on: September 13, 2005, 06:09 PM »
I had Richard and Judy on as background noise and they did a piece on the world's biggest curry attempt at Preem restaurant on brick Lane. They succeeded with a vegetable curry weighing in at 5.1 tonnes! They froze some for Richard and Judy and they said it was really nice. Obviously this proves the theory that good curries can only be made in large quantities, so get your burners set up underneath your bath if you want that authentic restaurant taste? :D

Also on Saturday there was a short programme on about chefs' secrets and guess who was on there, none other than Mr Haydor the chef involved with the Balti book we are all waiting for. His tips were dissappointing though, one was to add whole lemon to a curry that has too much chilly and then remove it, apparently it takes some of the heat out and the other was to roast your spices to bring the flavour out.

Judging by what lurks around the plughole of my bath I don't think any of that would contribute to "the real taste" for me so I think I might give this one a miss!!!!

I think Darthphal uses an old tin bath in his outside lav cos he has been banned from the house due to the smell. He gets to use it most days except Saturday when his missus has a bath and shaves her bits!!!

Ray you are a great asset to this site mate & thank you for your friendship  :).
When you cook the second/final stage the salt is really down to personal preference, but i find it is important to BIR Curies( Unlike Authentic) to bring out flavor unless you substitute with MSG,so experiment to your hearts content. ;)
Don't worry about putting very little oil in, it makes no difference with this recipe for some reason, i will be cooking with a very light olive oil (tasteless) next week instead, i`ll post my findings.
aaaaahhhh What ? No veg..oil.. Hows that for going against the grain !
I always rock the boat..or should i say sink the bugger !!!. :D
I hope the curry turns out as good for you as it does for me.
I`m going to add your Basaar mix to my next weeks batch for work( & 1 Desertspoon Turmeric)  ;D i let you know how that tastes, after i`ve built all these bloody computers( business is good). ;D

Your friend DARTH "Don't underestimate the power of my Vindalloo recipe`s" PHALL. 8).
