UB, let me know when you nail it.  I hate the s***e in the shops and never buy it although sometimes it looks appealing.  But home made is just heaven poured over a  jacket or on a portion of chips (i put that down to my Irish experiences ;D).   Mmm, yummy :P

UB

Here is mine

Shredded red AND green cabbage

Very fine julienne of carrot

Finely chopped red or mild white onion

optional - roughly broken walnuts and  a small quantity of sultanas

Salt and loads of black pepper

Equal parts of a decent mayo AND Heinz salad cream ( the salad cream is the killer punch here ) enough to well cover/bind whatever volume of the main ingredients you used.

Leave an hour or so for the flavours to develop

Paul

If you've got a food processor with a grater attachment (the large grating blade) it takes minutes to make large quantities.
I used to make it years ago, but can't remember a recipe, but white cabbage, salad/spanish onion and carrots were the main ingredients, with salt and pepper and Mayo.
You also can add mustard, tom sauce etc. to give slight differing flavours.
Tom Sauce was added for Prawn cocktails.
