Tesco knife sale
« on: February 27, 2012, 12:14 PM »
Hi all just thought i would post this, Tesco are doing a 70 percent off vouchers in their stores with the booklet they give away for free and every 20 GBP you spend you get 1 token towards them. You pay either 4.95 GBP or 4.99 GBP for each item, BARGAIN.
Here are the knives i got the Large Santoku Knife 175mm/7" one used today making three bases, very sharp and a very nice weight.

Thanks for this review, UF. I've got 7 tokens saved so far and was going to go for the large chef's knife, followed by the utility knife, depending upon what I thought of the chef's knife.

If I gather enough tokens before the offer ends, I was going to go for the Santoku. I might get that one first now, based on your recommendation. :)

Is it true the Santoku is better suited to tap chopping and slicing than rock chopping?

Ian

Hi ian yes i just went through around 8 kg of onions in no time "tapping" instead of cutting, the weight is just right as well hardly any effort needed to slice onions.
I have the large 7 inch Santoku and my other half has just text me to say she got me the Utility Knife.
Slices through carrots as easy as pie as well.

Santoku first it is, then. Might even get it tonight, if my local Tesco has it in stock. Thanks, UF.

Not sure if I'm going to be able to collect enough of coupons in time to get the full knife set

Any one with any spare coupons out there? I would really appreciate it, Cheers UB.
