Copied verbatim from the side of a 10kg pack :

Cooking Instructions
Absorption Method :


  • Put 1 to 1 1/2 cups of water into a heavy saucepan and bring to the boil
  • Stir in 1 cup of Jasmine Fragrant Rice
  • Cover, lower heat, and simmer for 18--20 minutes
  • Remove from heat, cover, and let stand for 5 minutes
  • Rinse rice with water once or twice before cooking
  • For softer rice, addmore water and simmer for longer

It was [5] that amused me.  I wonder how many people, using the rice for the first time, read that step only after completing steps 1--4 ?!  And worse, how many  mis-read it and and rinsed the rice /after/ cooking, thereby completely negating the benefits of the absorption method.

Step 7. Don't bother eating this as we can't be bothered with step order or if it turns out minging..  ;D
