Hi CH

Not tried the Imli sauce yet is it a bit milder than tamarini as been as it has less tamarind in it ?

Jamie
It is a shade less sour but it has a wonderful flavour :P  Then again, they both do :D

No time to try out new recipes tonight.  Decided to settle on what used to be my usual.  :o :o :o  HOT HOT HOT :'( :'( :'(.  Made chicken tikka phall tonight (no ordinary precooked chicken in the freezer :() and special fried rice.  Used the ingredients as per the Zaal Phall video except i added a tbs of chopped onions and 1 tsp of sugar.  No fresh coriander as i'd run out.  I'm obviously getting better at the art of frying the chilli powder well enough to cook it and get rid of the rawness/powder taste and cook it well enough to get the heat out of it and into the dish  ;D.  Think i'll be scaling the chilli quantity down the next time :o.  What's happening to me?  I blame this on too many madras's >:( >:(

No worries guys.  This thread contains a video of me making the phal under chef Az's watchful eye:

http://www.curry-recipes.co.uk/curry/index.php?topic=7714.170

The ingredients are simplicity itself, although i now use a chef's spoon of veg oil rather than veg ghee and pre-cooked chicken.  Powder measurements are approx one rounded tsp of mix powder and two rounded dessertspoons of chilli.  In the video the garlic is probably about a dessertspoon and the Mr Naga two level tsps.
As for the special fried rice without mix powder, it's detailed here:

Any probs just PM me.  Good luck with the phall  ;D
